Considering the last year’s massive overhaul, we are pretty sure that no one is expecting to see bigger changes on the 2022 Chevy Tahoe. Simply, the recent redesign has brought a full load of novelties and the best we could see for the second production year are minor tweaks, such as new color options, new standard features and similar things. Other than that, things will remain the same. Also, we know that the production of next year’s model will start sometime in October.
You may count on familiar characteristics. This is still a pretty fresh vehicle, which looks good and comes with numerous strong points. It is spacious and practical, whether it’s about passengers or cargo. Furthermore, we like its intuitive infotainment system and a long list of standard equipment. Also, the engine lineup is pretty long and includes two gasoline and one diesel version. When it comes to drawbacks, the biggest complaint goes to firm suspension setup.
2022 Chevy Tahoe Redesign
As we already mentioned, the 2022 Chevy Tahoe will represent the second production year of the current generation and that’s why we expect no bigger changes. The next year will bring a familiar design, based on the new T1 platform, which debuted in 2019 Silverado. Compared to the previous generation, the current Tahoe is lighter and more efficient. It is also better to drive, though the suspension setup may feel too firm to some.
In terms of aesthetics, there is nothing significant to come in the next year. We count on a familiar appearance, which takes a lot of inspiration from the pickup truck sibling, especially at the front. As we are talking about a very fresh model, we are pretty sure that the best 2022 Chevy Tahoe could bring is a couple of new color options, while we should also consider the possibility of seeing a new appearance package on the offer.
This aspect of the vehicle definitely won’t include any more important changes. The 2022 Chevy Tahoe will continue with the same cabin, which came with big improvements compared to the previous generation. Although there are still some areas with low-rent materials, the overall quality is much better than before. The dashboard looks modern, while ergonomics have been improved as well.
Besides good quality, this cabin also offers an impressive amount of space. There are three generous rows of seats and for the first time, the third row isn’t tight but can accommodate adults as well. The cargo area is even impressive and you may count on some of the best numbers in the class. The Tahoe offers around 25.5 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 72.6 cubic feet behind the second row, and 122.9 of the total cargo volume.
There’s always a chance to see a couple of novelties in terms of standard equipment. However, we don’t expect to see too many changes and most things should remain the same. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like a 10.2-inch touch screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, six USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker sound system, satellite radio, HD Radio, tri-zone climate control etc. Additionally, you can get upgrades like a panoramic sunroof, navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system with two 12.6-inch touch screens and Wi-Fi capability, wireless device charging, and a nine-or 10-speaker Bose stereo.
The same thing is with safety features. So, the list of standard equipment should include a rearview camera, the following distance indicator, forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning. There are also options like a rear camera mirror, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane change alert, a safety alert seat, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, front parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, reverse automatic emergency braking, a surround-view parking camera system etc.
2022 Chevy Tahoe Engines
We have no doubt that the 2022 Chevy Tahoe will continue with three familiar engine options in the offer. Base models will continue with a 5.3-liter V8, which puts out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. If you’re up for something peppier, you can opt for a 6.2-liter V8. This one puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
The new generation of this full-size SUV is also available with a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which puts out around 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
All three engines come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
2022 Chevy Tahoe Release Date and Price
From what we know so far, the production of the 2022 Chevy Tahoe will start in October. We don’t expect bigger changes in price, so base versions should go around 50.000 dollars. The competition is tough and includes models like Ford Expedition, Toyota Sequoia, Nissan Armada etc.
