2022 Hyundai Palisade Preview: Changes, Price, Release date, Rumors, Limited

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade will represent the third production year of the current, first generation, and if we consider the great initial reception and the last year’s introduction of the range-topping Calligraphy trim, it’s pretty much a certain thing that the next year won’t bring any particular update. Instead, we expect to see a familiar design, with familiar characteristics. Of course, minor updates are always possible, things like new color options, new standard features etc.

The next year’s Palisade will continue with all the good things it already offers. This is one of the best models in the class, which offers a pretty impressive interior quality, along with plenty of passenger and cargo space. Furthermore, we like its long list of standard equipment, while the powerful V6 engine ensures solid performance.

As there are no bigger updates to come, we expect that the 2022 Hyundai Palisade will hit the market sometime late in the year.

2022 Hyundai Palisade Redesign

Design-wise, the 2022 Hyundai Palisade will remain the same. Besides smaller updates, such as new color options, we don’t expect to see anything in particular. The overall design will remain the same, which means you may count on the same mechanics, which ensure a smooth and comfortable ride. The suspension setup is on the soft side, so you shouldn’t expect too much fun while driving this SUV. Instead, the ride is super calm.

Some sources suggest the possibility of a mid-cycle update. Moreover, there are also reports that offer rendering photos of the updated model. We can see a completely new front end, which borrows the grille and headlights from the new Tucson. However, we believe that it’s still early from a mid-cycle update. So, take these rumors with a big reserve and expect no bigger changes for the next year.

Interior

The inside of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade definitely won’t feature bigger changes. Simply, the current model already looks amazing. We really like the dashboard design, which offers classic, clean lines and comes with a long list of tech features. Furthermore, the materials are pretty impressive, while we also find build quality really good. Things are even more impressive in the Calligraphy trim, which looks very luxurious, on par with many premium SUVs.

This cabin is luxurious but it also offers plenty of space. Three rows of seats are standard and this is one of the rare mid-size crossovers that can accommodate eight passengers. The first two rows are very generous with space and accommodate adults with ease. The third row is a little bit tighter but still capable of accommodating adults.

When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 18 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 45.8 cubic feet with these seats folded, and 86.4 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.

Features

The next year could bring a couple of novelties to the list of standard equipment but we are pretty sure that most of the things are about to remain the same as in the current model. Therefore, base models should come standard with goodies like keyless entry, an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HD Radio, Bluetooth, and five USB ports. Higher trim levels will offer upgrades like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.2-inch touch screen, navigation, satellite radio, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon stereo, two additional USB ports, wireless device charging, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, ambient interior lighting, and a hands-free power liftgate.

The same thing is with safety features. Base models should come standard with a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, LED headlights with automatic high beams, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, driver drowsiness monitoring, and a rear-seat alert.

2022 Hyundai Palisade Engine

We don’t expect to see surprises under the hood. Therefore, the 2022 Hyundai Palisade will continue with a 3.8-liter V6, which puts out around 290 horsepower. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and moves this large SUV with ease. Base models feature an FWD layout, while all-wheel drive is also available.

The engine offers decent fuel economy. You may count on about 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the segment. Of course, AWD models are slightly thirstier.

We can also hear rumors about the hybrid version. However, chances to see this model already in the next year are really small.

2022 Hyundai Palisade Release Date and Price

Since the 2022 Hyundai Palisade won’t bring any more important updates, we expect it will hit the market sometime late in the year. The price should also remain pretty much the same, which means that base models should go around 33.000 dollars. Some of the key competitors are models like Mazda CX-9, Kia Telluride, Chevy Traverse etc.
