2022 Infiniti QX60 Redesign, Changes, Release Date

The Japanese luxury brand prepares big novelties for the next year and among them, one of the most interesting is the new generation of the well-known three-row family hauler. Just like the Pathfinder, the 2022 Infiniti QX60 will also come completely redesigned. The two SUVs will continue to share a lot of parts and Infiniti’s model will continue as a more luxurious version. The new version will hit showrooms in September.

The new generation of this SUV will come with loads of improvements. Of course, there is a new styling, but we will see significant mechanical upgrades as well. The Japanese manufacturer will also pay a lot of attention to the interior design, which will look far more luxurious than before. Finally, there are novelties under the hood. Even though the engine is about to remain the same, the transmission will be completely new and it will provide a smoother ride, better performance and higher max towing capacity.

The new generation will bring a lot of novelties. Interestingly, it will continue to ride on a well-known D platform. Moreover, the wheelbase will remain the same. On the other hand, the new model will be wider, taller and, interestingly, slightly shorter. We count on a similar amount of interior space, but we will get on that in a minute.

Despite the same platform, we will see significant improvements in terms f mechanics. This particularly refers to the suspension setup, which will be completely new. As a result, we should see better ride quality, both in terms of comfort and handling. How big are these improvements going to be, time will tell.

Exterior

Meanwhile, we can talk about the styling. The new model will have a premiere in a few days but we know for sure it will take a lot of inspiration from the last year’s QX60 Monograph concept. The proportions should be pretty much the same, while the front end shouldn’t be significantly different either. Simply, this concept looked very production-ready and there is no doubt that Infiniti designers won’t try to re-invent hot water.

So, you may count on a classic SUV shape, without a sloping roof or anything similar. That will be highly beneficial in terms of interior practicality, but also provide a more rugged appearance. The front end will come with the latest version of Infiniti’s recognizable design language, while the whole body will be characterized by the brand’s typical sleek and curvy lines, with just a bit of sharp details that make it look more contemporary.

Interior

In the past, Infiniti models were often criticized for bad interior quality. However, things have changed in the last few years. So, it’s no wonder that the expectations from the new model are pretty big. This particularly refers to the dashboard design, which looked pretty outdated in the outgoing generation. The new one will come with much more styling, with a design that’s characterized by much finer materials and better build quality. Of course, the center stack will be characterized by a large tablet-like touchscreen. The center console will keep a number of physical control, while you may also count on a new gear selector. Another thing you may expect to see is a fully digital instrument screen.

As we already mentioned, the new 2022 Infiniti QX60 will feature similar proportions to the previous generation. Therefore, we also count on a similar amount of interior space. This means three rows of seats, where the first two are very generous with space. The third row should be tighter but still capable of accommodating adults on short trips. The cargo area should offer class-typical ratings.

2022 Infiniti QX60 Engine

When it comes to the powertrain, the first thing you should know is that the engine will remain the same. Of course, we are talking about a well-known 3.6-liter V6, which puts out around 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque. On the other hand, a big novelty is coming in terms of transmission, as a new 9-speed automatic will replace the CVT gearbox. This will certainly improve the ride quality, whether it’s about acceleration or smoothness.

The new transmission will also improve max towing ratings. Instead of the current 5.000 pounds, the new model will tow 1.000 more. On the other hand, fuel economy should remain pretty similar, which would mean around 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

2022 Infiniti QX60 Release Date and Price

The 2022 Infiniti QX60 will have a premiere in a couple of days, while the sales should start in September. We don’t expect a significant price increase, so base models will probably go around 45.000 dollars. This segment is full of excellent SUVs, including Japanese rivals like Lexus RX and Acura MDX, so the new generation will have a hard task to find more buyers than its predecessor.
