2022 Jeep Renegade Preview: Redesign, Colors, Hybrid, Interior, Specs

The smallest crossover in Jeep’s lineup has been around for a quite long time and it looks like the company doesn’t plan to make changes in the near future. The current generation is expected to remain in production for a few more years, which clearly indicates that the 2022 Jeep Renegade will arrive without more notable changes. Instead, we will see a familiar layout, with new colors and standard equipment as the only possible changes.

You may count on a crossover that still has a lot of good things to offer. Besides the attractive appearance, this small SUV also offers pretty strong off-road performances, along with a comfortable ride. We also like the infotainment system, which is super easy to use. On the other hand, the biggest complaints go to the powertrain, as this small SUV would definitely use more power.

Considering that there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2022 Jeep Renegade will hit the market sometime late in the year.

2022 Jeep Renegade Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, the base layout will certainly remain the same. The 2022 Jeep Renegade will continue to share most of its parts with models like Jeep Compass and Fiat 500X, but also to feature a few exclusive features. This particularly refers to the model’s strong off-road performance, mostly because of a quite solid 8.7 inches in ground clearance. Furthermore, versions like Trailhawk come with several off-road upgrades, such as skid plates, low gearing, higher ground clearance etc.

In terms of the styling, the 2022 Jeep Renegade will continue in the same way. This crossover was refreshed with a couple of new details a few years ago. However, we are still talking about instantly recognizable styling, which offers that square, capable-looking appearance. The best we could see for the next year are new color options, though we wouldn’t exclude the possibility to see a new appearance package or something like that as well.

The inside of the 2022 Jeep Renegade shouldn’t change either. We count on a familiar layout, which has a lot of nice things to offer. The overall quality is okay, though there are few areas with low-rent materials. Still, the dashboard looks modern and attractive, while we also like the ergonomics.

2022 Jeep Renegade Interior

When it comes to comfort, there is really nothing to complain about. Although a subcompact crossover, the Renegade accommodates adults in both rows of seats. The legroom is decent, while the amount of headroom is impressive, thanks to the models’ boxy shape. We particularly like the driving position, which is high and provides good visibility.

The cargo area offers around 18.5 cubic feet of cargo space with its rear seats upright and 50.8 cubic feet with those seats folded. That’s above-average for the class.

It’s always possible to see a couple of novelties in terms of standard equipment. Still, we are pretty sure that most of the things are about to remain the same in the 2022 Jeep Renegade. The current model comes standard with goodies like dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a USB port, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and a six-speaker stereo. Additionally, you can get goodies like remote start, a 120V power outlet, an 8.4-inch touch screen, navigation, HD Radio, a nine-speaker stereo, and an additional USB port.

The same thing is with safety. The current list of standard features includes goodies like a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist. Additionally, you can get upgrades like front and rear parking sensors, hands-free park assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights.

2022 Jeep Renegade Engines

We expect the 2022 Jeep Renegade to continue with two familiar engine options in the offer. Base versions should continue with a good-old 2.4-liter naturally aspirated inline-four, which puts out around 180 horsepower. The optional 1.3-liter turbo-four offers a similar amount of power, but a little bit more torque. It is also more efficient, considering that it returns around 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. On the other hand, the base engine is good for about 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Both ratings are below-average for the class.

Both engines come in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to the front or all wheels.

2022 Jeep Renegade Release Date and Price

Considering that there are no bigger changes to come, we presume that the 2022 Jeep Renegade will hit the market sometime late in the year. Changes in price are not expected either. So, base versions should go around 23.000 dollars. The competition is tough and numerous. Some of the key players in the segment are models like Honda HR-V, Kia Soul, Mazda CX-30 etc.
