For the third production year, the 2022 Kia Telluride brings a couple of small but interesting upgrades. The mid-size SUV gets a new badge on the grille, as well as more tech and safety features. One of the biggest novelties is that the larger touchscreen is now standard in all trims, while there is also a semi-autonomous adaptive cruise control. Other than that, things are pretty much the same as in the current model.
These new features will certainly make the Telluride even better but the overall layout will remain the same. You may count on an SUV that has so many great things to offer, starting from a spacious and comfortable cabin, lots of standards and available equipment, a smooth and comfortable ride, and a quite capable V6 engine.
What’s also worth mentioning is that the next year’s model features a slightly higher starting price, due to the additional features.
2022 Kia Telluride Redesign
The Telluride has been around since 2020. So, it seems logical to see no bigger changes for the next year. The overall design remains the same and the only notable change is Kia’s new logotype on the grille. Other than that, the styling remains the same and we really don’t have a problem with that, considering that the current model already looks pretty good.
Mechanical changes haven’t come either. The 2022 Kia Telluride continues with the same setup, which shares a lot with Hyundai Palisade. The two models ride on the same platform and share most of the parts. What we really like about the Telluride is its suspension setup. It ensures composed handling, a good balance between engaging steering and a comfortable ride. This SUV is very easy to drive and offers a great driving experience.
The inside of this SUV has been one of its strongest points since the launch. The cabin looks very good. It is trimmed with quality soft-touch materials, while the build quality is very good. Also, a big amount of tech features makes the dash look even more upscale. This particularly refers to the 10.25-inch touchscreen, which is now standard in all versions.
Besides good overall quality, this cabin offers a high level of comfort. The sound insulation is very good, while the amount of space is impressive. This is the biggest Kia ever made and it offers three spacious rows of seats. Even the third one is very useful and accommodates adult passengers. The first two rows are very generous with space. The front seats are massive and supportive, while the driving position is very good, both in terms of visibility and ergonomics.
Of course, the 2022 Kia Telluride continues to offer tremendous amounts of cargo volume. You may count on 21 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 46 cubic feet with these seats folded, and 87 cubic feet in total. That’s above average for the segment.
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2022 Kia Telluride comes with a couple of additions to the list of standard equipment. Base models now come with a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen, as well as automatic climate control and adaptive cruise control.
Other than that, things aren’t much different compared to the last year’s model. So, the list of standard features includes goodies like keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a six-speaker stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and five USB ports. In more expensive versions, you can get upgrades like navigation, an extra USB port, wireless device charging, an intercom, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon stereo, sunroof, power liftgate etc.
When it comes to safety, all models come standard with a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, driver drowsiness monitoring, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and a rear seat alert. The list of upgrades includes front parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera system, a head-up display, and automatic high-beam headlights are available.
2022 Kia Telluride Engine
Under the hood, the 2022 Kia Telluride continues in a familiar way. It comes with a 3.8-liter V8, which puts out around 291 horsepower. That’s enough power to move this large SUV with ease and driving dynamics are actually pretty good. The engine comes in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which also does a pretty fine job. When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the class.
2022 Kia Telluride Price and Competition
The 2022 Kia Telluride features a starting price of around 33.000 dollars, while the most expensive versions can cost over 45.000 dollars. Models like Mazda CX-9, Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander are some of the key competitors.
