The new generation of the iconic Land Cruiser is here and now, we are eagerly waiting to see its more luxurious iteration, in the form of the next-generation LX. According to the latest reports, that won’t happen so soon and the next year definitely won’t bring such change. Instead, the 2022 Lexus LX 570 will come with the same design as the current model. This doesn’t refer to base design characteristics only but to pretty much every aspect of the vehicle.
You may count on a familiar layout, which hasn’t significantly changed since 2008, when this generation was launched. It may be old, but this SUV still has something to offer, especially in terms of off-road capability. Furthermore, we like the luxurious cabin, as well as the unparalleled reliability rating. On the other hand, the biggest complaint goes to the poor fuel economy of the super-reliable V8 engine.
As there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2022 Lexus LX 570 will hit the market sometime late in the year.
2022 Lexus LX 570 Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, not many things have changed since the initial launch in 2008. The mechanics are largely the same, though we saw some suspension tweaks during this long production cycle. On the other hand, the styling has been updated a few times. The last facelift happened a few years ago, when this SUV came with the brand’s latest version of the famous spindle grille. So, we can say that the current model still looks modern.
The reason why this SUV stands out is its off-road capability. It’s really hard to find a luxury SUV that can offer excellent off-road performances. Add to this LX’s excellent reliability ratings and you get something no other manufacturers have to offer. Speaking of the off-road performance, we should mention some of the hardware, such as an adjustable suspension, crawl control, multiterrain select modes, and a front-view terrain camera.
Depending on how you look at things, the cabin of this luxury SUV can be seen either as a good or as a bad thing. On one side, it doesn’t look too modern. Rivals like Mercedes GLS or Cadillac Escalade look much flashier, loaded up with tons of tech features. On the other hand, this model sticks with classic design solutions and while it may look a little bit outdated, it is impressive in terms of materials and overall build quality.
When it comes to the interior space, the first two rows offer more than enough room to accommodate adult passengers with ease. On the other hand, the optional third row is only for kids. The cargo area offers up to 81.3 cubic feet of space, which is below average for the class.
As we are probably talking about the final production year, we presume that we won’t see any notable change in terms of standard equipment. Moreover, things should remain pretty much the same as in the current model, which comes standard with goodies like quad-zone automatic climate control, ambient interior lighting, a household-style power outlet, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a moonroof, proximity keyless entry, and a universal garage door opener. The list of standard equipment also includes tech goodies like a 12.3-inch display, navigation, a nine-speaker premium stereo, Bluetooth, multiple USB ports, satellite radio, voice recognition, Amazon Alexa, and the Lexus Enform app suite. Additionally, you can get options like a center console refrigerator, a 19-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound stereo, wireless device charging, and a rear-seat entertainment system.
When it comes to safety, the current model is already fully loaded. It comes standard with things like forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic high-beam headlights, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, a surround-view parking camera system, a multiterrain view monitor, a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
2022 Lexus LX 570 Engine
Under the hood, the 2022 Lexus LX 570 will continue with a good-old 5.7-liter V8, which features a max output of 383 horsepower and 403 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission and offers pretty good driving dynamics.
On the other hand, fuel economy isn’t that good. You may count on about 13 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway, and those are some of the lowest ratings in the segment. The max towing capacity goes around 7.000 pounds.
2022 Lexus LX 570 Release Date and Price
We presume that the 2022 Lexus LX 570 will arrive sometime late in the year. Also, we don’t expect changes in price, so base models should go around 87.000 dollars. The competition is pretty familiar and includes models like Range Rover, Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator etc.
