The current generation of the legendary luxury SUV has been around for a while and after the recent launch of the all-new Cadillac Escalade, it’s time for updates. Therefore, the 2022 Lincoln Navigator is about to come with a couple of interesting novelties. From what we can see on the test model, the company prepares a couple of visual updates. Furthermore, we are also about to see novelties on the inside, particularly in terms of the new infotainment system. Finally, there’s a chance to see a new, hybrid powertrain in the offer.
Despite the changes and updates, we don’t expect that the overall layout will be any different. The next year will bring a model with familiar characteristics, a model that is spacious and luxurious, a model that comes with a capable engine and lots of standard equipment. We expect to see it on the market in a few months.
2022 Lincoln Navigator Redesign
As we already mentioned, the 2022 Lincoln Navigator is ready to receive an update. The test mule has been spotted on the road and its camouflaged areas clearly show where the biggest changes are about to happen. Of course, the focus will be on the front end, which is expected to come with a new bumper, slight headlights changes and a revised grille. The rear end should come with a couple of novelties as well. We could see new taillights, as well as some revisions on the tailgate. Naturally, we also expect to see typical mid-cycle updates, such as new color options, new wheels and similar things.
On the other hand, the overall layout will remain the same. We don’t expect to see any bigger mechanical changes. The chassis will remain the same, as well as the suspension. This means you may count on the same ride quality as in the current model, which is smooth and composed.
Interior changes are about to come as well. From what we can see on the spy shots, a lot of the dashboard is still covered. However, we can clearly see a new, much bigger touchscreen than before. Along with the new touchscreen, we will also see an updated infotainment system. Other than that, we could see a few more revisions on the dashboard, as well as things like new materials, new interior color schemes etc.
On the other hand, the overall cabin layout won’t change too much. You may count on the same proportions and same amount of space. This SUV comes with three pretty spacious rows of seats and accommodates up to eight passengers.
The cargo area is as impressive. You may count on about 20.9 cubic feet of space behind the third row and 63.6 cubic feet behind the second row. The total volume goes up 103 cubic feet. You can also get a long-wheelbase version, which significantly increases cargo volume, to 36 cubic feet of space with all the seats up, 79.6 cubic feet behind the second row, and a maximum of 120.2 cubic feet.
Of course, the upcoming update should also bring a number of new features, standard and available. Still, keep in mind that the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect, so don’t expect miracles. For reference, the current model already comes standard with tech goodies like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, navigation, 14 speakers, satellite radio, six USB ports, and wireless device charging, tri-zone climate control etc.
We presume that additions would come from the current list options, which includes a panoramic sunroof, a 20-speaker audio system, and a dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system.
2022 Lincoln Navigator Engine
Without any doubt, the 2022 Lincoln Navigator will continue with a familiar 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which features a max output of 450 horsepower. It comes in pair with a
10-speed automatic transmission and provides pretty impressive driving dynamics and overall performance. Also, you may count on pretty decent fuel economy, which goes around 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.
Also, we can hear rumors about a hybrid version. Allegedly, this model would feature the same setup as the new F-150 Hybrid, which is based on a 3.5-liter V6 and a single electric motor. The combined output goes around 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque. The power is also sent via a 10-speed automatic transmission.
2022 Lincoln Navigator Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2022 Lincoln Navigator will arrive sometime in the third quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 77.000 dollars. Of course, the competition will remain pretty much the same, which would mean models like Cadillac Escalade, Lexus LX, Mercedes-Benz GLS etc.
