2022 Nissan Armada Preview: Interior, MSRP, Colors, Specs, MPG

After the last year’s major update, we are pretty sure that the 2022 Nissan Armada will come without more important changes. Simply, the recent refresh was so comprehensive that we have no doubt that the current form of this SUV will remain active for a very long time. The new styling looks fantastic, while the interior is also nicer than before. Finally, the engine now delivers a little bit more power. So, the only updates we could see for the next year are the minor ones, such as new standard features, new color options etc.

We count on the same design characteristics. This SUV has a lot of good things to offer, starting from good driving dynamics, very good interior quality and a long list of standard features. We also like its spacious cabin and large cargo area. On the other hand, the biggest complaints go to low fuel economy and a little big harsh ride.

As there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2022 Nissan Armada will hit the market sometime late in the year.

2022 Nissan Armada Redesign

The current generation has been around for about five years. However, we are actually talking about a decade-old design, which is the same as in the Y62 Patrol, which has been around since 2010. The SUV rides on a good-old F Alpha platform and provides pretty decent ride quality. Of course, this SUV is also pretty good off the road, especially if pick a model with four-wheel drive.

The recent refresh has brought a completely new styling and we believe that’s Armada’s strongest point right now. Simply the new version looks really amazing, thanks to a bolder appearance that includes new prominent headlights, a more aggressive bumper and several pretty futuristic details. The rear end also includes a couple of new things, such as taillights, bumper etc.

Interior

This SUV benefits from the fact that it is closely related to the Infiniti QX80. The two models feature pretty much the same interiors, which in practice means that Armada offers a premium-grade interior quality, especially in terms of materials. On the other hand, the aesthetics are a little bit outdated, though we have to see that the recent update made everything look nicer than before, especially the center area of the dashboard.

Besides very good overall quality, this SUV also offers a high level of functionality. It is spacious and practical. The front rows are massive and comfortable, while the driving position is very good. The second row is as comfortable. On the other hand, the third row is tighter, but still quite useful. When it comes to cargo space, you may count on about 16.5 cubic feet of space behind its third-row seats, 49.9 cubic feet with the third row folded, and 95.4 cubic feet with all the rear seats folded.

Features

We don’t believe that the next year’s model could bring any bigger changes in terms of standard and optional features. Most of the things should remain the same as in the current model. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like a 12.3-inch touch screen, navigation, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, wireless device charging, Bluetooth, USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay. Additionally, you can get a moonroof, a 13-speaker Bose audio system and a rear-seat entertainment system.

The same thing is with safety. The current model comes with a pretty long list of standard safety features, with goodies like forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, driver drowsiness monitoring, adaptive cruise control, vehicle exit warning, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. Additionally, you can get upgrades like a surround-view parking camera system, traffic sign recognition, and a rearview mirror camera.

2022 Nissan Armada Engine

Things under the hood definitely won’t change. The 2022 Nissan Armada will continue with a good-old 5.6-liter V8, which has been slightly upgraded last year. It now delivers a total output of 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. The power is sent via 7-speed automatic transmission, which does a pretty good job as well.

One of the rare drawbacks of this powerful and capable engine is fuel economy. It is pretty thirsty and returns just 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway, which is below-average for the class.

2022 Nissan Armada Release Date and Price

As there are no significant changes to come, we expect that the 2022 Nissan Armada will hit the market sometime late in the year. The price should also remain the same, which means that base versions should go around 50.000 dollars. Some of the key competitors are models like Toyota Sequoia, Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition etc.
