With standard all-wheel drive, solid mechanics and plenty of practicality, the Forester has been in the club of best compact crossovers for years. The current generation is no exception but that doesn’t there is no room for changes. Lovers of this brand know very well that redesigns of its models usually come after five years, while mid-cycle refreshes are reserved for the fourth production year. Considering that the current generation was introduced for the 2019 model year, it’s easy to conclude that the 2022 Subaru Forester will receive some novelties.
At this point, it’s still early for details but we are pretty sure that the changes will be pretty subtle. We count on smaller styling revisions, while interior changes are not expected. Also, some sources suggest we could see an upgraded, off-road version of the SUV. Furthermore, there are even rumors about the powertrain upgrade. 2022 Subaru Forester Redesign
The upcoming update will bring a couple of changes, but we don’t expect to see anything radical. Of course, we could see a couple of novelties on the list of standard equipment but we are pretty sure that most of the things are about to remain the same. The current model already comes with a pretty long list of standard equipment, which includes things like automatic climate control, a 6.5-inch touch screen, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth, and four speakers. Additionally, you can get goodies like an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, a six-speaker audio system, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a Wi-Fi hot spot, two additional USB ports, dual-zone climate control, sunroof etc.
The same thing goes for safety features. The current model already comes standard with goodies like a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lead vehicle start alert, and lane keep assist.
2022 Subaru Forester Engine
Under the hood, the 2022 Subaru Forester is about to continue with a familiar 2.5-liter boxer engine, which features a max output of 182 horsepower. The engine comes in pair with a CVT gearbox and standard all-wheel drive. Driving dynamics are good and will satisfy most drivers. Also, fuel economy is really impressive, especially if we consider all-wheel drive. In numbers, it goes around 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, which is really impressive.
We can also hear rumors about the new engine option for the 2022 Subaru Forester. Allegedly, that would be a 2.4-liter turbo-four, the same one that powers the Ascent.
