The current generation of Volvo’s compact crossover has been around for about four years. Considering that the competition is pretty tough, this seems like a perfect time for updates. Things under the hood will definitely remain the same. Therefore, base models will continue with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horsepower. That’s enough for a convenient ride, while you may also count on a typical fuel economy for the class. In numbers, it goes around 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
If you prefer something peppier, the same engine is available with an additional supercharger. So, the max output goes up to 316 horsepower and driving dynamics are notably better. However, this powertrain is also thirstier and you get around 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
Finally, there is the T8 plug-in hybrid version, based on the same engine. The total output goes up to 400 horsepower, which ensures pretty respectable performances. However, the system isn’t as refined as the one in RX 450h, for example. On the other side, fuel economy is decent and goes around 27 mpg in a combined ride.
All models come with 8-speed automatic transmission.
