2023 Chevrolet Traverse Preview, Changes, Redesign, Price

After a so-much awaited refresh, which was initially planned for the 2021 model but eventually came with the 2022 model year, we are pretty sure that the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse will come without more important changes. We expect to see a familiar design, which should remain in the current form for a few more years, until we see a complete overhaul. Still, that doesn’t exclude the possibility to see minor updates, such as new color options, additions to the list of standard equipment etc.

With these updates or without, the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse will offer the same overall quality. This SUV is attractive in many ways. We particularly like its generous interior space, whether it’s about passenger or cargo room. Furthermore, the infotainment system is intuitive and easy to use, while we also like the capable V6 engine. On the other hand, the main complaint goes to the interior quality, which isn’t at the level you would expect from a model at this price range.

Since there are no significant changes to come, we expect that the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2023 Chevrolet Traverse

2023 Chevrolet Traverse Design

The 2023 Chevrolet Traverse will continue in the same way as the 2022 model. So, you may count on all the novelties that were introduced with the 2022 refresh. This particularly refers to the styling, as the recent update brought a new front end, with more aggressive bumpers, more prominent grille etc. The next year will bring the same styling, though we may see some new color options on the offer and similar things. We wouldn’t be surprised if we see a new appearance package either.

The mechanical aspect will definitely remain unchanged. This large crossover rides on a familiar C1 platform, with a front-wheel-drive layout. It may not be the most athletic SUV on the market, but we really like its comfortable and relaxed ride.

Interior

Changes in this aspect won’t happen either. We are about to see a familiar cabin design, which has both good and not so good things to offer. When it comes to not-so-good things, our main complaint goes to the interior quality. There is a lot of surfaces wrapped with hard plastics and other low-rent materials. Also, the dashboard styling feels old, so it’s no wonder that most rivals feel more upscale.

On the other hand, where Traverse really shines is the amount of space. With nearly 121 inches in wheelbase, it’s no wonder that it offers three generous rows of seats and accommodates up to eight passengers. Even the third row is adult-friendly.

The cargo area is also quite generous with space. You may count 23 cubic feet behind the third row, 58 cubic feet behind the second and 98 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. Those are some of the highest ratings in the class.

Features

As we already mentioned, a few novelties in this aspect are possible, but we expect that most of the things are about to remain the same. Therefore, all models should come standard with goodies like tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, a 7-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, six USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. The list of upgrades should include things like remote start, panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touch screen, navigation, wireless device charging, and a 10-speaker stereo.

The same thing is with safety features. Base models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high beams etc. The list of options should include things like rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, surround view camera system, adaptive cruise control etc.

2023 Chevrolet Traverse Engine

Under the hood, the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse will continue with the well-known 3.6-liter V6, which puts out 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. That’s plenty enough to move this SUV with authority, though we can’t say it ensures some sporty performance. The engine comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which does a pretty fine job as well.

Besides solid performance, the Traverse also offers decent efficiency. It returns around 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, which is typical for the class. Models with all-wheel drive are slightly thirstier. When properly equipped, this SUV can tow up to 5.000 pounds.

2023 Chevrolet Traverse Release Date and Price

The 2023 Chevrolet Traverse shouldn’t feature any bigger changes, so we expect it will hit the market sometime late in the year. The starting price should go around 34.500 dollars. When it comes to the competition, models like Toyota Highlander and Ford Explorer are key players in the segment.
