The current generation of Jeep’s compact SUV has been around since 2016 and after the recent refresh, we are pretty sure it will remain in production for some more time. Of course, this is a clear indicator that the 2023 Jeep Compass will continue in the same way, without more important updates. Still, minor tweaks like new color options and more standard features are always possible.
We expect to see a familiar SUV, which still has a lot of things to offer. We like the model’s great off-road capability, along with the spacious cabin and intuitive infotainment system. On the other hand, the cargo area is small, while the engine feels a little bit underpowered. Also, the fuel economy could be better.

The Trailhawk trim comes with some pretty serious upgrades, such as an Active Drive Low four-wheel-drive system, low-range gearing, hill descent control, a Rock traction setting, an off-road suspension, additional skid plates, and two tow hooks.
Interior
The last year’s model also brought a completely new interior design. This particularly refers to the dashboard design, which features a completely new, more modern shape, as well as a full load of new tech features, which make this cabin look very attractive. More importantly, the build quality and materials are really impressive, so there is actually nothing to complain about, at least in terms of quality.
When it comes to passenger space, there is nothing to complain about. Both rows are spacious and accommodate adults pretty easily. Also, we count on available features like a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touch screen, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, wireless device charging, an additional USB port, navigation, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof.
When it comes to safety features, we expect that base versions will come with goodies like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert etc. Also, we count on available upgrades, such as adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, park assist, surround-view camera, traffic-sign recognition, rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic high beams etc.

This aspect certainly won’t bring any changes. The next year’s model will continue with a good-old 2.4-liter inline-four, which puts out around 180 horsepower. It offers enough power for daily commuting, though it struggles on the open road. Interestingly, FWD models come with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while models with AWD use a 9-speed unit.
When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, which is slightly below average for the segment.
