2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee: Performance Version(s) on the Way?

The legendary SUV has just been redesigned and the new generation brings various improvements over the previous model. That’s why we believe that the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which will represent the second production year, will come without bigger modifications. Still, this refers to standard versions. On the other hand, we believe this could be a good time to see performance versions of the SUV. We believe this model year could bring SRT and maybe even a Hellcat version. However, the officials are still quiet.

In any case, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will continue to deliver familiar design characteristics and features. We are about to see an SUV that offers great off-road performance but also a smooth and relaxed ride. This SUV also comes with a pretty impressive interior, as well as along list of standard equipment.

We expect that the launch date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Design

Design-wise, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will continue in the same way. The recent redesign has brought a lot of new things. This doesn’t refer just to the styling and similar things. It also refers to the mechanical aspect of the vehicle, which is completely new. The new Grand Cherokee rides on the Giorgio platform and as a result, it offers way better driving characteristics, whether it’s about comfort or athleticism. The new model is also notably lighter, which is beneficial in terms of fuel economy.

Traditionally, the Grand Cherokee offers exceptional off-road performance. All versions are capable, but we particularly like the Trailhawk model, which comes equipped with off-road hardware such as an off-road camera, a limited-slip differential, a sway bar, a terrain management system, an air suspension, tow hooks, and skid plates. It also comes with a couple of styling details that accentuate its off-road nature.

Interior

One of the biggest changes we’ve seen with the recent redesign is the new interior. Compared to the previous generation, it looks better in every way. First of all, the build quality and the materials are impressive. Furthermore, you may count on much more attractive aesthetics, which are completed with a full load of tech features. Finally, the sound insulation is great.

Besides great overall quality, this cabin also offers plenty of space. Both rows are very generous and accommodate adults with ease. Furthermore, the front seats are massive and supportive, while the driving position is excellent. The seating position is high and, combined with large glass surfaces, ensures great visibility in all directions.

When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 37.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 70.8 cubic feet, which is typical for the class.

Features

We don’t believe that the next year’s model could bring some more significant novelties in terms of standard and available features. Most of the things should remain the same as in the current model. Therefore, base models should come standard with goodies like dual-zone climate control, push-button start, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8.4-inch touch screen, a six-speaker stereo, USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Among upgrades, we expect to find things like quad-zone climate control, remote start, a dual-pane sunroof, a 10.1-inch touch screen, a 10.25-inch passenger-side touch screen, navigation, a nine-speaker Alpine stereo, a 19-speaker McIntosh stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, a rear-seat entertainment system, wireless device charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

When it comes to safety features, all models should come standard with things like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert etc.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Engines

Standard models will continue in the same way. So, the well-known 3.6-liter V6 will remain the base engine, with a max output of 293 horsepower. It offers enough power to ensure decent performance but we believe that most drivers would rather opt for the 5.7-liter V8, which puts out 357 horsepower. Both engines come with 8-speed automatic transmission. When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is typical for the segment. The V8, on the other hand, returns around 14 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

We believe that there is a good chance to see some performance versions on the offer for the next year. This particularly refers to the SRT model, which would come with a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 that puts our 475 horsepower. The Hellcat version with 700+ horsepower is also possible.
