2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer: New Engine and Long-Wheelbase Version Are Coming

The legendary Grand Wagoneer was finally revived last year after are decades-long hiatus. The new model brought many amazing things but that doesn’t mean that the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, which will represent the second production year, will come without updates. Moreover, we are about to see some pretty significant novelties, as the company has prepared a stretched version, along with the new engine.

All these things will make the Grand Wagoneer even more competitive but the overall layout will remain the same. The next year’s model will continue to offer its familiar characteristics, such as excellent interior quality, plenty of space, capable powertrain and impressive ride quality. With the aforementioned novelties, things can only get better, especially with the new inline-six engine, which should fix the model’s biggest issue – poor fuel economy.

We expect to see the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer on sale this fall.

2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the Grand Wagoneer was revived last year, so it’s pretty much for sure that the 2023 model will come without more important changes, at least when it comes to the standard version. On the other hand, the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L is coming. This will be a stretched version of the SUV, which will compete with models like Cadillac Escalade ESV and Lincoln Navigator L. From what we know so far, the new version will feature 130 inches in wheelbase (7 more than the standard versions), while the total length will be increased by a whole foot.

Both versions will continue with a familiar chassis and suspension setup. Although a body-on-frame SUV, the Grand Wagoneer offers exceptional ride quality. At the same time, you get precise handling and a butter-smooth ride. What’s more impressive is that the BoF layout ensures class-leading towing capacity, which goes up to nearly 10.000 pounds.

Interior

When it comes to the interior design, the new 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L will certainly benefit from the bigger dimensions, particularly in terms of cargo volume. The new version will offer 44.2 cubic feet behind the third row, 88.8 cubic feet behind the second row and nearly 131 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.

On the other hand, the standard version will continue with the same numbers, which go around 27.4 cubic feet of space behind the third-row seats. Fold those down, and you have 70.9 cubic feet. Max capacity checks in at 116.7 cubic feet.

Both models will feature the same dashboard design, characterized by super-fine materials and excellent build quality. Of course, there is a pretty generous list of standard and available equipment, but we will get on that in a moment.

Features

The standard 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer probably won’t change much in this aspect. We will see a familiar list of standard equipment, which currently includes goodies like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-inch touch screen, navigation, a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system, HD Radio, satellite radio, USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa, wireless device charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a tri-pane panoramic sunroof, quad-zone automatic climate control, remote start, and a 10.25-inch display in the second-row console. Considering the generous list of standard equipment, it’s logical that the number of optional features isn’t too big. You can get things like an interactive front passenger display, a 23-speaker McIntosh audio system, and a dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system.

When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, side distance warning, adaptive cruise control, head-up display, parallel and perpendicular park assist, surround-view camera etc.

2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Engines

Big novelties are coming under the hood! the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L will come with the company’s new 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six engine called Hurricane. This engine puts out 500 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque and also comes coupled with 8-speed automatic transmission.

On the other hand, things are still a little bit unclear about the standard Grand Wagoneer, which currently comes with the large 6.4-liter HEMI V8 with 471 horsepower. Some sources suggest that the HEMI unit will remain, while the Hurricane would be offered as an option. The main drawback of this HEMI engine is poor fuel economy, which goes around 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway.

2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will arrive this fall. Standard models shouldn’t feature bigger changes in price, so base versions should cost slightly under 90.000 dollars. The Grand Wagoneer L will be more expensive, but we still don’t know the exact price tag.
