2023 Lexus NX Review: Hybrid, Price, Interior, Price

The popular compact crossover has been redesigned last year, so we are pretty sure that the 2023 Lexus NX, which will represent the second production year, will come without more important updates. We count on a typical carryover model, which could bring minor updates only. This refers to things like new color options, new standard and available features and similar things. The rest of the vehicle is about to remain unchanged.

You may count on a luxury SUV that has so many great things to offer. We like the interior design, which combines excellent build quality with modern tech features. Also, the powertrain lineup includes four options, two gasoline and two hybrid units. Finally, there is a long list of standard and available equipment, which all make this small crossover one of the most desirable models in this class.

Considering that there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2023 Lexus NX will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2023 Lexus NX Design

Considering the last year’s redesign, we are pretty sure that the 2023 Lexus NX will carry on without bigger changes. This SUV now rides on a new TNGA platform and it shares a lot of parts with the current-generation RAV4. Compared to the previous generation, the biggest change came in terms of handling, as the new model offers much more athleticism than before.

Visually, the recent overhaul has brought a new styling, which was rather evolutionary. Compared to the previous generation, the new model looks a little bit more subtle than before. It looks a little bit more conventional. However, the famous spindle grille is still there, while the best the second production year could bring are minor updates like new color options. We wouldn’t exclude the possibility to see a new appearance package on the offer either.

Interior

This is definitely one of the strongest points of the new generations and we don’t believe that bigger changes could come for the second production year. Simply, the new cabin looks pretty impressive. The Japanese manufacturer combines classic lines and shapes with modern tech features, and this combination looks great. Typically for Lexus, the build quality and attention to detail are impressive.

Besides excellent overall quality, this cabin also offers a decent amount of passenger space. Both rows accommodate adults with ease. We particularly like the front seats, which are massive and supportive – some of the best in the class. The driving position is very good, whether it’s about ergonomics or visibility.

On the other hand, the 22.7 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 46.9 cubic feet behind the front seats don’t sound impressive. Many rivals offer more cargo space.

Features

The second production year might bring a couple of novelties in terms of standard equipment but we have no doubt that most of the things will remain the same. Therefore, base models should come standard with goodies like dual-zone climate control, push-button start, remote start, remote keyless entry, a 9.8-inch touch screen, a 10-speaker stereo, a USB port, Bluetooth, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, you may count on upgrades like a panoramic glass roof, Lexus Digital Key, a 14-inch touch screen, a 17-speaker Mark Levinson stereo, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, and navigation.

The same thing is with safety features. So, all models should come standard with a rearview camera, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams etc. The list of upgrades should include rain-sensing wipers, adaptive headlights, lane change assist, head-up display, parking sensors, park assist, front cross-traffic alert, surround-view camera etc.

2023 Lexus NX Engines

The 2023 Lexus NX will continue with four familiar powertrain options on the offer. Base models will continue with a 2.5-liter inline-four, which puts out 203 horsepower. The optional 2.4-liter turbo-four is a way better choice, as it offers around 275 horsepower. Both engines come in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission.

There are also two hybrid versions on the offer. The standard hybrid model, known as the NX 350h, comes with Toyota’s familiar system that’s based on a 2.5-liter engine. It puts out around 240 horsepower. Finally, there is a plug-in hybrid version, the same one that powers the RAV4 Prime. This model is called the NX 450h+ and it features a max output of 302 horsepower. Both hybrid models come in pair with a CVT transmission.
