2023 Lexus RX 450h+ Price, Range, MPG, Specs

The RX has been by far the most popular mid-size luxury SUV and that’s for a good reason. Simply, no other model in this class offers such a fantastic balance between price and quality. Now when the new generation is here, the expectations are even higher. Among many novelties, one of the most interesting is the new 2023 Lexus RX 450h+, which will be the first RX to come with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Other than the powertrain, this model won’t be much different compared to the rest of the powertrain. We are about to see a completely new design, which brings numerous improvements over the previous generation. Of course, there is the new styling, as well as the new interior design. The new model is lighter and offers better ride quality, while the list of standard and available features are even longer.

The all-new 2023 Lexus RX 450h+ should arrive this fall.

2023 Lexus RX 450h+ Powertrain

Of course, the most interesting aspect of this particular version will be its powertrain. We are about to see a plug-in hybrid setup for the first time in an RX. The 2023 Lexus RX 450h+ will use the same system as the RAV4 Prime and the smaller NX 450h+. Therefore, you may count on a combination of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a couple of electric motors. In the aforementioned siblings, the max output goes around 302 horsepower but we won’t be surprised if we see a slight power boost in this case. We expect that this model will be able to make around 35-40 miles in the EV mode.

The rest of the RX lineup will come with three more powertrain options. Base models will come with Toyota’s new 2.4-liter turbo-four, which puts around 275 horsepower. Furthermore, the RX 350h will come with the same system as the Highlander, with a gasoline engine and two electric motors, for a total output of 246 horsepower. Finally, the new flagship model will be called the RX 500h and it will feature a hybrid system with a max output of 367 horsepower.

Other than the powertrain, the 2023 Lexus RX 450h+ won’t be much different compared to the rest of the lineup. Therefore, we are about to see the same changes that were introduced with the recent redesign. The new generation brings so many novelties. First of all, the new RX rides on the company’s new TNGA platform, which brings so many improvements, starting from the significant weight reduction, lower center of gravity etc.

Of course, there is also the new styling and we can say that the new model looks a little bit more conservative than the previous generation. It comes with less sharp lines and feels a little bit toned down. Therefore, we presume that the new styling will be less polarizing than the previous one.

Interior

The 2023 Lexus RX 450h+ interior will have so many great things to offer. It will look pretty much the same as in the rest of the lineup, so you may count on excellent build quality, super nice materials and new, more attractive aesthetics. Of course, there is also a very generous amount of tech features, which makes everything look more upscale. This particularly refers to the new 14-inch infotainment screen, which now relies on touch sensitivity, rather than the often-criticized touchpad-based system from the previous generation.

The new generation features a longer wheelbase and a slightly bigger dimension than the predecessor, so it will offer a little bit more passenger space as well. The third row won’t be available anymore, as the company is working on a brand-new three-row crossover.

2023 Lexus RX 450h+ Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 Lexus RX 450h+ will arrive this fall, with a starting price of around 65.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Volvo XC90 etc.
