The Japanese carmaker is a pioneer in the all-electric car segment. The legendary Leaf has been in production for more than a decade and it is the world’s first mass-selling electric car. However, things have changed a lot in the last decade, so electric cars became a pretty common thing. Therefore, Nissan also works on massive electrification. The first model to come is the 2023 Nissan Ariya, which was already introduced and which will compete in the most popular segment on the market, compact crossovers.
From what we know so far, this crossover will be offered in two variants regarding battery capacity. We will also see two variants regarding electric motors setup. Also, you can notice that the styling is notably different compared to everything we’ve seen from Nissan. The same thing is with the interior design, which looks way more elegant than a typical Nissan.
The 2023 Nissan Ariya will hit the market later this year.
2023 Nissan Ariya Design
This is an all-new model, designed by the Japanese manufacturer. The first thing we should mention is that it is built over the modified version of Nissan’s familiar CMF platform. In terms of dimensions, this is a typical compact crossover. It features 182.9 inches in total length, while the wheelbase goes around 109.3 inches in wheelbase, which is notably more compared to the Rogue.
Of course, you can also notice a completely new styling, which is here to establish the design philosophy of future electric cars from Nissan as well. Compared to other models in the lineup, everything looks more futuristic, starting from the front end, with more dynamic shapes and lines, bigger wheels etc. Also, this model features a bit of a sloping roof, which makes it look more like a coupe crossover.
Interior
The inside of this crossover looks very elegant and upscale. That’s mainly because of the minimalistic design approach. It comes in a combination with quality materials and lots of tech features. Of course, the first thing you’ll notice is a couple of 12.3-inch screens, which work as the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen. Most controls are digital, while the only physical controls are those on the center stack. On the other hand, you can also notice a decent number of buttons integrated into the simulated wood, which look very elegant.
As we already mentioned, this crossover features a pretty long wheelbase, so it’s no wonder that the amount of passenger space is pretty generous. Both rows of seats are spacious and accommodate adults with ease.
2023 Nissan Ariya Powertrain, Battery, Performance
From what we know so far, the 2023 Nissan Ariya will be offered two batteries. Base models will feature a 63-kWh battery, which should ensure around 210 miles of range. On the other hand, the larger battery will feature 87 kWh in capacity, which will be enough to ensure more than 300 miles on a single charge.
Base models will come with a single electric motor mounted on the front axle. You may count on a max output of between 214 and 238 horsepower, depending on the version you choose. That’s enough to ensure a 0-60 sprint in about 7.2 seconds. You can also pick an AWD version, with the additional electric motor on the rear end and a max output of 389 horsepower. With all that power, the 2023 Nissan Ariya will need less than 5 seconds to hit 60 mph.
Trim Levels
The base version will be called the 2023 Nissan Ariya Venture+ and it will come with an FWD setup. Some of the highlights are 19-inch wheels with covers, LED headlights, six-way manual front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting, 12.3-inch screens, parking sensors, navigation etc.
The 2023 Nissan Ariya Evolve+ will add a couple of nice things, such as an eight-way power driver’s seat, 360-degree camera system, panoramic moonroof, wireless device charging, trunk underfloor storage, auto-dimming rearview mirror etc.
The 2023 Nissan Ariya Premiere will add multi-color contextual line illumination, illuminated door sills, ProPilot Assist etc.
Finally, there is the 2023 Nissan Ariya Platinum+ e-4orce. It will come with a dual-motor setup, as well as features like 20-inch wheels, Nappa leather seating surfaces, power tilt and telescoping steering wheel column, 10-speaker Bose premium audio, side mirrors with memory function, LED turn signal indicators, and reverse tilt.
2023 Nissan Ariya Release Date and Price
