2023 Nissan Murano Redesign: What We Know So Far

The Japanese manufacturer is currently in the big process of renewing the whole SUV lineup. After a complete redesign of compact Rogue and three-row Pathfinder, it’s time for Murano to receive a complete overhaul. The new model will get improvements in all aspects, starting from the interior quality, ride quality, new mechanics etc. We believe that the 2023 Nissan Murano could be ready for the next summer.

At this point, it’s still early for details but we are pretty sure that the new model will go in the same direction as its siblings. In other words, we expect the evolution of the current design, mechanically speaking. On the other hand, the styling will be completely new, based on the brand’s latest design language. Of course, the interior should bring improvements as well, while big novelties will come under the hood as well. Finally, count on more standard equipment, especially in terms of tech features.

As we’ve just mentioned, the upcoming redesign won’t be as radical as you would maybe expect, at least in terms of mechanics. Instead, the new generation will continue to ride on the well-known D platform, which underpins the current generation. However, this doesn’t mean a lack of changes. Instead, the platform will be significantly updated, especially in terms of the suspension setup. This will result in a higher comfort, more precise steering and better overall driving experience.

The new 2023 Nissan Murano should be better to drive and we also expect to see the adoption of all kinds of new technologies. This refers to new advanced driver aids, but also the things like electrification. We could see an electrified version one day, though we are pretty sure that such a model won’t be ready for the initial launch.

Exterior

When it comes to the exterior design, the first thing that comes to mind is styling. The current model shows signs of aging and it will be replaced with more modern aesthetics. Of course, we count on the latest iteration of the brand’s famous V-Motion grille design language, which already debuted in the new Pathfinder. The new styling will bring a bolder approach, with a few futuristic details. The rest of the body will follow the same path.

On the other hand, we don’t expect to see significant changes in size. The overall dimensions should remain pretty similar to the current model, which measures around 111.2 inches in wheelbase and 192.4 inches in total length. Still, we expect the new model to be slightly longer and wider.

There is always a chance for some special version. The company may offer a new appearance package or something like that, with unique styling details regarding colors, wheels, bodywork etc.

Interior

Big improvements are expected from the inside as well. Once again, we count on a lot of influence from the new Pathfinder, regarding dashboard design and overall aesthetics. This would mean a more mature design approach, in a combination with nicer materials and higher build quality. All these things should provide a more premium overall feel.

On the other hand, the overall layout shouldn’t change much. Of course, we count on a little bit more space, but the overall proportions will remain similar. We count on two spacious rows of seats, along with a generous cargo area, just like in the current model.

Novelties in terms of tech features are expected too. We count on a new infotainment system, as well as on all kinds of other tech goodies, including wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging etc. The same thing goes for safety features, which should be numerous in base models.

Under the hood, we also expect to see big changes, even though the current 3.5-liter V6 will probably carry on. Some sources speculate about the turbo-four, but we think that Nissan will stick with the smoother six-cylinder layout. We presume that the output would be slightly increased compared to the current version, which puts out around 260 horsepower.

More importantly, the 2023 Nissan Murano will get a new transmission. Instead of the uninspiring CVT gearbox, the new model should utilize a new 9-speed automatic, which should significantly improve performances and overall driving experience.

We also count on slight improvements regarding fuel economy, though we have to say that the current model is already pretty good for the class in this aspect. It returns around 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

2023 Nissan Murano Release Date and Price

We expect to see 2023 Nissan Murano sometime in the second half of 2022, with a starting price of around 33.000 dollars. Of course, the competition remains the same. Some of the key rivals are models like Ford Edge, Chevrolet Blazer, Honda Passport etc.
