2023 Nissan Pathfinder Gets Rock Creek Off-Road Version

The Pathfinder has just been redesigned and with all the novelties that were introduced, it would be normal to expect nothing but minor tweaks. However, it looks like the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder is about to bring bigger changes. It will come with a new version on the offer, with an off-road model called Rock Creek. This model will come with various mechanical upgrades, but also with several exclusive styling details and interior features.

On the other hand, the overall design will remain the same. We are about to see a familiar layout, which has so many great things to offer, starting from a spacious and well-designed cabin, a long list of standard and available features, a capable powertrain etc. The new Rock Creek will certainly bring a bit of off-road stance to the table, something that’s becoming a pretty common thing among mid-size crossovers.

We expect that the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year.

As we already mentioned, the biggest novelty for the next year will be the introduction of the Rock Creek model. This will be an off-road version of the SUV, with all kinds of upgrades. Of course, we are talking about things like standard all-wheel drive, upgraded suspension, higher ground clearance, all-terrain tires and similar things. Moreover, we will also see a couple of exclusive styling details, such as a unique grille design, bumper etc.

On the other hand, standard models will continue in the same way. We count on the same setup, which ensures a smooth and comfortable ride, without much attention paid to things like precise steering but still without too much body leans in corners. The styling should remain the same, though we might see things like new color options and similar updates.

Interior

The interior design will also remain the same, which is a great thing. The recent redesign brought significant improvements in this aspect, particularly in terms of materials and build quality. Areas like the dashboard look very elegant, while there is also a generous amount of tech features. Also, the new Rock Creek model will come with a couple of exclusive interior details, such as special cloth and vinyl upholstery, orange stitching, and Rock Creek badges on the seats and center console.

Of course, the overall cabin layout will remain the same. Three rows of seats are standard and the front seats are some of the best in class in terms of comfort. The second row is as spacious and comfortable, while the third row is typically tight for the segment.

When it comes to cargo space, you may count on about 16.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third row, 45 cubic feet behind the second row and 80.5 cubic feet of the total cargo volume, which is about average for the class.

Features

We don’t expect to see bigger changes in this aspect. So, base models should come standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, four USB ports, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, keyless entry and tri-zone automatic climate control. On the other hand, the list of options should include things like remote start, panoramic sunroof, a 9-inch touch screen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, two additional USB ports, a 13-speaker Bose sound system, and wireless device charging.

The same thing is with safety features. So, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, driver drowsiness monitoring etc. The list of options should include goodies like a surround-view camera, head-up display, road sign recognition, ProPilot Assist etc.

2023 Nissan Pathfinder Engine

The 2023 Nissan Pathfinder will continue with the same 3.5-liter V6 engine, which puts out around 290 horsepower. The big news from the recent redesign is a new 9-speed automatic transmission, which replaced the uninspiring CVT. The driving experience is now way better, whether its about dynamics or convenience. Of course, FWD is standard, while AWD models are available. The average fuel economy goes around 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is typical for the segment. The max towing capacity goes up to 6.000 pounds.

The new Rock Creek model will get a slight power upgrade, to 295 horsepower, while all-wheel drive will be standard.
