2023 Range Rover Sport Full Review

The new generation of Range Rover Sport is here. After a full decade, the luxurious SUV comes with a complete overhaul. Considering the long production cycle of the previous generation, changes are significant in many aspects. Of course, there is a new platform, as well as a new exterior design. The cabin has been redesigned too, and also brings lots of new tech and convenience features. Finally, there is a completely new engine lineup, which offers a little bit of everything – an inline-six, V8 and a plug-in hybrid.

Without any doubt, changes are significant and improvements are notable in all aspects. However, all these things are changes in an evolutionary manner, so the overall design approach isn’t much different compared to the previous generation. We are still talking about a very capable off-roader, which offers excellent off-road manners at the same time, something you will hardly find in any other place.

The new model already debuted and it is available in most markets.

2023 Range Rover Sport Design

So, the 2023 Range Rover Sport gets a full redesign. After a full decade, we are seeing a completely new model, which may be all-new but which cars a lot about the model’s pedigree. For example, styling looks new but brings evolutionary changes only. Just like the full-size Range Rover, it brings subtle changes but, at the same time, it looks much more modern than before.

Things are much different under the skin. The new model gets a new platform – the MLA-Flex architecture, which brings lots of novelties, whether it’s about new technologies or chassis setup. The adjustable air suspension and the ride feel more composed than before.

The new generation rides better but at the same time, it doesn’t sacrifice off-road perfomances. As we already mentioned, there is a new air-adjustable suspension, which can raise this SUV up to 11 inches from the ground. Furthermore, you may count on a more advanced 4WD, with new traction control modes, low-range gearing and many other off-road goodies.

Interior

Of course, big changes came to the inside as well. The new interior design brings a more modern layout, although the dashboard is still full of classic design solutions. You can notice that a lot of inspiration comes from the full-size Range Rover, as there are some pretty similar aesthetical solutions. The new model features nicer materials and also comes with the better build quality. Furthermore, there are new tech features, which make it look even better.

Another important change that comes with this redesign is a notably longer wheelbase. The new model gets three additional inches between the axles, which is highly beneficial in terms of legroom and overall passenger space. The first two rows of seats are very generous with space and really comfortable, while the third row is now more functional than before.

Features

When it comes to standard equipment, base models come standard with goodies like LED headlights, 20-way power-adjustable and heated seats, 13.7-inch digital instrument cluster, 13.1-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, wireless charging, air purification, premium sound system etc. Also, you may count on safety features like forward collision mitigation, parking sensors, wade sensing, driver attention monitor, lane keep assist, surround camera etc.

The SE Dynamic trim adds a couple of exterior upgrades, while the Autobiography comes with extra features like low-range gearing, upgraded leather upholstery, a head-up display, and soft-close doors. Finally, there is the First Edition, equipped with all-wheel steering, Dynamic Response Pro system, and electronic active differential.

2023 Range Rover Sport Engines

As we already mentioned, the new generation comes with a completely new powertrain lineup, which includes inline-six, V8 and plug-in hybrid variants.

Base models feature a 3.0-liter inline-six, which features a max output of 355 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a mild-hybrid system and offers enough power to satisfy most drivers. For those who look for something more capable, the same engine is available in a variant with 395 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque.

Also, there is a version with eight cylinders, as we already mentioned. That version features a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, with a max output of 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque.

Finally, there is a plug-in hybrid version, which combines the same 3.0-liter inline-six with a capable 105-kW electric motor. The combined output goes around 434 horsepower and 619 pound-feet of torque. Also, the system comes with a 31.8-kWh battery pack, which is enough for 48 miles of range in the EV mode.

All models are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
