2023 Toyota Sequoia Redesign: Everything We Know So Far

Although the officials are still quiet, it looks like Toyota’s largest SUV is finally about to get a full redesign. The current generation has been around since 2007 and it looks outdated in every aspect. It desperately needs updates, so it’s no wonder that we are getting so many reports about the redesign. The new model could come already in the next year, like the 2023 Toyota Sequoia.

Considering the age of the current generation has been around for ages, there is no doubt that the upcoming redesign is about to bring a lot of changes. We are about to see a completely new design, based on a new platform, with completely new aesthetics. Big changes are expected under the hood too, as the current super-thirsty V8 is finally about to be replaced.

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is expected to arrive sometime in the second half of the next year. More details are yet to come.

2023 Toyota Sequoia Design

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia will be all-new and the first thing we should mention is the platform. It’s pretty easy to conclude that the new Sequoia will once again share most of its parts with Tundra. The new Tundra has already been presented and it rides on the company’s new TNGA-F platform. The new architecture brings lots of benefits and one of the first things that come to mind is weight reduction. The new Sequoia should be notably lighter, which will have a positive impact on efficiency and ride quality in general.

We also expect to see notable improvements regarding suspension setup. The current generation isn’t particularly great in terms of road comfort and handling, so we expect to see a little bit more refined setup, maybe even an independent rear suspension, along with some air components.

Of course, we also expect to see the TRD Pro model on the offer. This trim will come with all kinds of upgrades, starting from a new suspension setup, standard 4WD, locking differentials, skid plates and other typical off-road upgrades.

Exterior

This model has always been Toyota’s largest SUV in the lineup, so we have no doubt that the 2023 Toyota Sequoia will continue in the same way. The outgoing model measures way over 120 inches in wheelbase and the new generation could become even bigger. Still, we presume that the overall shape and proportions won’t change too much. The overall shape should remain quite similar, though in a new, bolder layout.

Of course, the styling will be all-new as well. We may presume that the 2023 Toyota Sequoia will adopt the brand’s new design language, with the front end that looks quite the same as on the new Tundra. That bold and rugged appearance will certainly have a big impact on making this SUV more appealing to buyers. The rest of the vehicle should look bold as well, with sharper lines than before.

Interior

We presume that Toyota designers won’t bother too much to make this cabin look different compared to the one that characterized the new Tundra. Moreover, the dashboard should look pretty much the same, which is a good thing. This dash features some really nice materials, along with attractive aesthetics and great overall build quality. Also, the new 2023 Toyota Sequoia should bring lots of new tech features, starting from a massive touchscreen on the center stack and a completely digital instrument cluster.

2023 Toyota Sequoia Interior

Like always, interior space will remain one of Sequoia’s strongest points. The current model already features three very generous rows of seats, which accommodate adult passengers with ease. The 2023 Toyota Sequoia could only get better. The same thing goes for the cargo area.

2023 Toyota Sequoia Engines

Big changes are coming under the hood. The V8 will be dropped from the lineup and the replacement comes in the form of a twin-turbo V6, which puts out around 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. Also, there is a new 10-speed automatic transmission. The new setup is more powerful than the V8 but should also significantly improve fuel economy.

We also expect to see a hybrid version as well. This model will feature a combination of the V6 engine and electric motor integrated into the transmission. The total output goes up to 437 horsepower and pretty impressive 583 pound-feet of torque.

We expect that the new Sequoia will be able to tow over 9.000 pounds.

2023 Toyota Sequoia Release Date and Price

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia should hit the market sometime in the second half of the next year, with a starting price of around 50.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Ford Expedition, Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, etc.
