2023 Volvo XC60 Preview: Changes, Release Date, Recharge, Redesign

In the world of compact crossovers, the XC60 stands out for a great mix of luxury and technology and after the recent update, we are pretty sure that the current generation will remain in production for a few more years. The 2022 model year received a mid-cycle update, which included not just styling changes, but also a new infotainment system, new tech features and updated driver-assistance systems. Considering all this, it’s easy to conclude that the 2023 Volvo XC60 will be a typical carryover model.

So, you may count on a luxury crossover that has so many great things to offer. We like its spacious and luxurious cabin, while the ride is very smooth. Of course, there is a range of capable engine options, while the new infotainment system works great.

Considering that there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2023 Volvo XC60 will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2023 Volvo XC60 Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Volvo XC60 will be a typical carryover model. It will continue with familiar design characteristics, but also with all the updates that came with the 2022 model. This model year received a facelift and you can notice a couple of nice exterior changes. The grille features a slightly different texture. Also, the logo is now heated, which helps sensors work better in ice conditions. Furthermore, this update brought a new front bumper and lower fascia. The rear bumper has also been revised and now hides exhaust pipes. Of course, we so typical updates like new wheels, new color options and similar things.

On the other hand, the mechanical aspect hasn’t changed since the initial launch and the 2023 Volvo XC60 will continue in the same way. This refers to the suspension setup too, which means that higher trim levels will come with optional adaptive dampers.

Interior

The inside of the XC60 didn’t change much with the recent update so we presume that the 2023 Volvo XC60 will continue in the same way. This is not an issue at all, considering that we are talking about one of the nicest cabins in the class. The dashboard looks simple and elegant, while the whole cabin comes high-quality materials. Also, we should mention that the recent update brought a new infotainment system. The touchscreen remained the same, but the software is completely new, with new commands, voice recognition, Google Maps navigation etc.

Besides great build quality, this cabin also offers a great level of functionality. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, with some of the best seats in the class. Both rows accommodate adult passengers with ease, while the cargo area is also pretty generous with space. You may count on 22.4 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 63.3 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.

Features

We don’t believe that the list of standard and available features could change much for the next year. Most of the things will remain the same as in the current model, which comes standard with tech goodies like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch touch screen, Android Auto, a Google maps navigation system, Bluetooth, wireless device charging, HD Radio, satellite radio, a 10-speaker stereo, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. Things like a panoramic moonroof and dual-zone automatic climate control are also among standard features.

Among options, expect to find quad-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon stereo or a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins stereo, etc.

When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with rain-sensing windshield wipers, rear parking sensors, adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rearview camera, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking etc.

The recent update also brought changes under the hood, in the way that T5 and T6 models were replaced with B5 and B6 models. What this means is that a 48-volt mild-hybrid system has been added. So, the B5 is practically the same 2.0-liter turbo-four, with a max output of 247 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. As you may presume, the B6 adds a supercharger, for a total output of 295 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.

On the other hand, the T8 model with plug-in hybrid setup remained the same and it will carry on the 2023 Volvo XC60 as well. It offers a combined output of 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque. The 11.6-kWh battery pack provides 19 miles of the all-electric range.
