2024 Nissan Pathfinder Might Get Hybrid Powertrain

The Pathfinder has just been redesigned and once again, it is rather a crossover than a genuine SUV, like the original versions used to be. In the second production year, the 2023 model has already been presented and it also brings a few interesting novelties, including the new Rock Creek version. So, it’s no wonder that enthusiasts already started to speculate about the changes for the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder. Of course, it is still early for more of a mid-cycle refresh but some interesting novelties may be introduced.

This particularly refers to the powertrain department. Allegedly, Nissan is about to introduce a hybrid version of the SUV, which makes perfect sense these days. Moreover, the Japanese manufacturer will probably introduce a powertrain based on its new technology, which takes a little bit different approach to electrification. Other than the new powertrain, we don’t expect to see bigger changes regarding the powertrain, though minor updates are always possible.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Could Get Hybrid Powertrain

This is the most anticipated thing for the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder. If we can trust rumors, Nissan is working on a new powertrain for its mid-size crossover and it looks like we could see a pretty interesting approach. Allegedly, the Japanese manufacturer is about to implement its new technology, which uses an electric motor to move the wheels, while the gasoline engine serves as a generator. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for more details about the new system.

On the other hand, standard models will continue in the same way. We are about to see a familiar 3.5-liter V6 engine, which comes in two output variants. Standard versions are good for about 284 horsepower, while the recently-introduced Rock Creek version comes with a slight power boost to 295 horsepower. The engine comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which does a very good job too.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Design

Other than the new hybrid powertrain, the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder shouldn’t come with bigger changes. The overall design will certainly remain the same. We are about to see a familiar layout, based on a significantly updated D platform, which provides a high level of comfort but also brings a little bit more athleticism compared to the previous generation.

Visually, we don’t expect changes, though we might see minor updates, such as new color options and similar things. Also, we expect that the recently-introduced Rock Creek version will continue in the same way. That model comes with exclusive styling details, unique wheels, higher ground clearance, upgraded suspension etc.

Interior

On the inside, the recent redesign has brought significant improvements, so it’s pretty much for sure that the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder interior will remain largely the same. We are about to see the same cabin design, which is characterized by very attractive aesthetics and great overall quality. The materials are super-fine, while there is a lot of attention to detail. Furthermore, the list of standard and available tech features is very long and it also makes the cabin look more upscale.

Besides great build quality, this SUV also offers a high level of comfort. Along with a soft suspension setup and smooth ride, you also get spacious and comfortable seats. This particularly refers to the front seats, which are some of the best in the class. The second row is also very spacious and comfortable, while the third row, although tighter, can be pretty useful too.

The cargo area offers around 16.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 45 cubic feet behind the second row and 80.5 cubes of the total cargo volume, which is about average for mid-size crossovers. That said, rivals like Chevy Traverse and Honda Pilot are way more generous in this aspect.

Features

As we’ve just mentioned, novelties in this aspect are also possible but we are pretty sure that most of the things will remain the same as in the current model. Therefore, all models should come standard with goodies like keyless entry, tri-zone climate control, an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, four USB ports, satellite radio, and a six-speaker stereo. Among upgrades, you can find goodies like remote start, panoramic sunroof, a 9-inch touch screen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, two additional USB ports, a 13-speaker Bose sound system, and wireless device charging.

The same thing is with safety features. Currently, base models come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert etc.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Release Date and Price

Although it is still early to talk about a more precise date, we expect that the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 36.000 dollars.
