Believe it or not, Ferrari SUV is under consideration. The famous Italian carmaker is seriously considering the development of some kind of utility vehicle, according to the company CEO Sergio Marchionne.
Crossovers are the fastest-growing segment of the modern car industry, especially when it comes to premium cars. Even the most exclusive car makers are forced to create such vehicles, in order to remain competitive and keep the positive balance when it comes to finances. Besides Ferrari that is still considering this option, there are several famous sports cars manufacturers that already work on their crossovers. At the moment, it is official that the company is considering this new type of vehicle. Sergio Marchionne, Ferrari’s CEO, said that they seriously consider a new type of vehicle. He said that the final decision will come in about 30 months. If we consider few years of development, it is clear that hypothetical new crossover will not come before 2021. Also, he referred a new model as FUV. We could take this as a “Ferrari Utility Vehicle” or “Fast Utility Vehicle”. There is also an unofficial information that the company already works on the new model, and that it could come much earlier than we expect.
Ferrari SUV is Under Consideration speculations
As we already mentioned, it is official that the Ferrari SUV is under consideration. However, we didn’t manage to find some more precise details about the potential new model. So, we must rely on rumors and our predictions. We believe that the new crossover will ride on the same platform as GTC4 Lusso, which is kind of an updated version of FF model that came in 2011. This isn’t the prettiest models from Ferrari for sure, but its platform is versatile and could easily fit a crossover.
In this case, the new SUV could feature the same 6.3-liter V12 engine, which is good for about 680 horsepower and 514 pound-feet of torque. This amount of power will provide amazing performances, such as 0-60 time in about 3.5-4 seconds etc. Besides this engine, the new SUV could also come with Turbo V8 unit, while some suggest even a hybrid powertrain.
