It is official folks, Chevy announced new Blazer last week. The upcoming 2019 Chevrolet Blazer is coming without boxy shape and the new design looks more like a conventional crossover. The American carmaker says that the Camaro muscle car was a sort of inspiration for the Chevy’s designers. New Blazer will run on a uni-body platform and it will bring plenty of sportiness and modern styling cues.
The 2019 Blazer was introduced back in 1969 and the retirement came in 2005. Now, the famous Chevrolet’s mid-size SUV is back and it is slotting between the Equinox and Traverse models. Blazer will arrive next year and rivals such as Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ford Edge will have to raise their game in order to stay competitive.
2019 Chevrolet Blazer split-grille design is same as on the Camaro
While the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer slots between the Equinox and Traverse, it looks nowhere near those two models. The front end is clearly taking an inspiration from the famous Camaro model with the aggressive front fascia. This SUV is one of a few SUVs available in the market that looks so mean and angry. The headlights and split-grille design are basically the same as on the Camaro.
A slim LED strip looks like a modern touch and grille extends from one end to the other. Moreover, the grille becomes wider toward the bottom front part and it reminds us of a Lexus’ spindle grille with honeycomb mesh.
The side profile features some usual SUV’s styling cues without much muscles and with a clear design. Blacked-out pillars and 18-inch wheels with black wheel arches are looking stunning. The RS model is available, and it adds 21-inch wheels and blacker appearance and Premier models come with plenty of chrome materials.
2019 Chevrolet Blazer interior is trendy and comfortable
The interior brings the sense of sportiness. On top of that, the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer comes with a very modern and comfortable interior. There is 64.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the front seats. The dashboard comes with chrome pieces and contrast stitching and center stack holds two additional A/C vents. Even a pair of cup holders is available as standard, while the wireless charging is optional on all models.
A hands-free power liftgate is the latest addition. The upholstery looks great and Chevy offers numerous colors and trims. A panoramic power sunroof is also optional and generally, standard equipment is great, however, if you want a luxurious cabin you’ll have to opt for some optional equipment.
The safety is improved thanks to the rear camera mirror and adaptive cruise control, advanced electric stability control, lane keep assist, plenty of airbags and child lock for the youngest.
2019 Chevrolet Blazer engine will use stop/start technology
The forthcoming 2019 Chevrolet Blazer will arrive with two available drivetrains. The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is a famous unit that also sits in the Colorado model and some GMC’s model. It can produce up to 193 HP and 188 lb-ft of torque.
Moreover, this unit provides one of the best fuel economy numbers in the segment, but it lacks power. If you want power, then go with the optional 3.6-liter V6 that can burst 305 HP and 269 lb-ft of torque. Both units will use a direct fuel injection system and stop/start technology. Furthermore, both engines are available with a 9-speed transmission.
The 2019 Blazer comes with the front-wheel drive setup, while the all-wheel-drive system is developed for the models such as Premier or RS.
