2018 Honda Element Interior, USA, Price

Considering that many manufacturers are bringing back their models from the past, it won’t be a surprise to see the new 2018 Honda Element in near future. Latest reports suggest that the new model is under development and could come already by the end of the year. Initially very popular, this small crossover was eventually discontinued due to slow sales.

The original version came in 2003 and it was in production until 2011. During these eight years, we have seen few modifications, but the core remained the same. The original version was in close relationship with legendary Civic, sharing most of mechanics. Still, its visual approach was something completely different from everything that company had in that time. With a unique appearance and practicality-oriented design, initial success was certain. Still, sales were slowing down and the crossover finally ended production in 2011. Latest reports suggest its revival as 2018 Element.

2018 Honda Element two design possibilities

Although there are many reports about 2018 Honda Element’s revival, we couldn’t find some more specific details about it. So, we must rely on our own predictions. We believe that there are two possibilities when it comes to base design solutions.

The original model was compact in size, sharing a platform with Civic, so we could see the same thing with the new generation. Still, we also think that Honda will try to attract younger buyers. This basically means that the new 2018 Honda Element could be smaller than the original. This will ensure a more affordable price, which could be one of deciding factors for the model’s success on the market. In this case, engineers will turn to the also recently revived HR-V, a subcompact crossover. These two models could share the platform, engines, complete mechanics etc.

2018 Honda Element styling

Another thing that bothers us is 2018 Honda Element’s styling. At this moment, it is hard to predict how the new will look like. Of course, we expect to see a similar boxy approach but still, some revisions are possible. There’s a chance to see a less unique styling that will more fit to the brand’s current design language. Still, we believe in the famous cubic design. The new model will be practical for sure. Straight lines will provide a maximum load capacity and headroom for back passengers. Also, famous side doors could continue in the second generation as well.

Interior

On the inside, some unique details are possible as well. Though, we are pretty sure that the company will try to make the new model more affordable. To achieve that, low production costs are needed. So, expect many design solutions borrowed from the HR-V and other models from this manufacturer.

2018 Honda Element engines without surprises

Speaking of powertrain, expect no surprises. This is probably the most certain aspect of the whole car. Since it will be closely related to HR-V, expect same engine lineup. This means that a familiar 1.8-liter unit will be in the offer for base models. It is good for about 139 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. Some more potent engine in the offer will be a nice addition.

A powerful 1.5-liter turbo engine from Civic could be a perfect solution. This unit delivers around 175 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. In both cases, we expect to see same transmission choice. Both six-speed manual and CVT should be in the game.
