2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, Hybrid

The next generation of the famous SUV has been spotted on testing in Germany and we expect to see a new model already next year, as 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. This model is in the offer all around the world and it is in production for more than 17 years.

The original model came in 2000 and we have seen three generations of it so far. The current version is present since 2012 and it will be replaced soon. The fourth generation will come with many novelties. Of course, new styling is one of the top priorities, but we are about to see many novelties that will improve quality of driving. So, expect a completely new architecture which will utilize lightweight materials and several other mechanical improvements, including more efficient engines. The company didn’t announce anything about arrival date, but various reports suggest next year and arrival of 2019 Santa Fe.

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe redesign

This redesign will definitely bring many improvements. The outgoing model is older than most of its competitors, so this will definitely make a big impact on overall sales. The first thing that we like to mention about the new model is a new platform. The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe will come with a new architecture, which will much more utilize lightweight materials such as aluminum and HSS. This should reduce overall weight and, eventually, improve fuel economy and overall performances.

The new model will also come with a completely new styling. However, we don’t expect to see anything radical. The company will continue with the evolution of its famous model. So, we are about to see a similar overall shape, fitted to the brand’s latest design language. Naturally, the interior design will also come completely new, with new dashboard layout, new technologies, and many other novelties.

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe engines

When it comes to powertrain, it is still early to make some predictions, but many of us believe that the new generation will come with a similar engine lineup, but with improved efficiency, of course.

For the North American market, we should see the same atmospheric 3.3-liter V6 engine. In the current model, this engine outputs around 290 horses.

For the European market, there are two diesel units in the offer. A smaller 2.0-liter unit comes with either 148 or 183 horses, while the bigger 2.2-liter engine goes up to 200. Also, there is a big chance to see a twin-turbo version of a familiar V6 in the offer. In this configuration, max power goes up to 370 horses.

The company will continue to offer both manual and automatic transmission, as well as both FWD and AWD versions.

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport

Although spotted mule is definitely a three-row Santa Fe, we are pretty sure that the company prepares a new Santa Fe Sport as well. This is a two-row version of the famous SUV, which comes with a shorter wheelbase and several other tweaks. It also features different engines, with a smaller displacement. For example, North American models feature a 190-hp 2.4-liter engine in a base variant, while the 2.0-liter turbo with 264 horses is optional. This redesign could bring some tweaks on these engines too, which will provide more power and better economy.

Competition in the segment is tough. There are models like Honda Pilot, Chevy Traverse, Mazda CX-9, VW Atlas and many others.
