2019 Lexus GX 460 Review, Changes

It seems like the 2019 Lexus GX 460 won’t come with bigger changes. The famous mid-size SUV is about to continue without more important modifications for another few years. Despite the fact that the current generation is present since 2009, the company feels that there is no need to rush with the redesign. It is important to mention that this model received few updates so far.

However, this doesn’t change the fact that this is an almost ten-year-old model. All competitors are much younger, though we must say that this model is a class for itself. Unlike other mid-size SUVs that are actually crossovers, this is a true off-roader with a traditional body-on-frame platform. So, it is actually pretty hard to compare this SUV with others of this size. The 2019 GX 460 is about to continue without bigger changes, in pretty much all aspects.

2019 Lexus GX 460 design without bigger changes

Just like we’ve mentioned, 2019 Lexus GX 460 won’t feature bigger changes. The SUV is present since 2009. However, it received few updates so far, so we must say that its look is still pretty attractive. Its classic SUV-ish boxy shape is fulfilled with the brand’s latest design language, in the way it is possible considering its rugged construction. You can easily notice elements like spindle grille, narrow headlights etc. For the next year, don’t expect changes in this aspect.

When it comes to the interior design, things will also remain pretty much the same. Expect to see the same dashboard layout, as well as same materials. On the other side, some new color schemes are quite possible. Still, the main change will be in terms of standard equipment, where we could see few additions compared to the current model.

2019 Lexus GX 460 trim levels

This is the area where we could see few novelties from the 2019 Lexus GX 460. First of all, a trim-level organization should remain the same. This means that there will be two variants in the offer. So far, the base model features things like dual-zone automatic climate control, simulated leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, driver-seat memory settings, a power-adjustable steering column, 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, nine-speaker audio system and much more 18-inch wheels, a full-size spare tire, LED headlights, running boards, a flip-up rear window within the swing-out tailgate, roof rails, Lexus’ Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, rearview camera and much more. An optional Limited trim adds even more amazing features. Some of the highlights are heated wood-trimmed steering wheel, a rear cargo cover, the second-row captain’s chairs and upgraded leather upholstery, adaptive and auto-leveling suspension, power-folding and auto-dimming mirrors, headlight washers etc.

The 2019 Lexus GX 460 could get few novelties for each trim level. However, if we just look at all those standard features that are already available, it becomes clear that there aren’t many new things to come.

2019 Lexus GX 460 engine

This is the aspect of the SUV where we definitely won’t see changes. The 2019 Lexus GX 460 will continue with the proven 4.6-liter V8 engines. This engine might seem large and thirsty for this segment, but it all becomes completely irrelevant when you realize that this is a highly durable, reliable, and long-lasting unit that won’t let you down no matter how hard driving conditions are. It features a max output of 310 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque and comes in a pair with a six-speed automatic transmission. Performances are amazing as well. This large and heavy SUV needs just seven seconds to reach 60 mph, while top speed goes over 115 miles per hour.

2019 Lexus GX 460 release date and price

The 2019 Lexus GX 460 will come late in the year. We don’t expect changes in price, so base models should go around 53.000 dollars.
