2018 Toyota Fortuner – Redesign and Cabin Appearance

The exterior styling of 2018 Toyota Fortuner is not radically different compared to the predecessor. It still manages to stand out in the parking lot amidst a number of rival SUV models. The styling is somewhere in between Isuzu MU-X and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. The model will be sold in three trim levels and several exterior color choices will be offered. The Top Crusade trim gets extra chrome on the body and it also gets sleek Led lamps. The SUV is shorter than Ford Everest and a tad longer than Pajero Sport.

The cabin is relatively well designed than the 2017 model but you can still locate some hard plastic parts. There are three rows of seats but the third row is strictly for the kids and the last row folds up sidewise in the cargo area. There are some cups and bottle holders and you get 12-volt sockets with a few USB ports in the cabin too. The floor is covered with rubberized floor mats. The center console bin is padded only with top trim. Cargo space is decent.

Safety Features and Trims

The 2018 Toyota Fortuner gets decent safety features and amenities are also nice. The Base GX trim gets 17-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, cruise control, 7.0-inch touchscreen setup, Bluetooth etc. The GXL trim gets satellite navigation, keyless entry, push-button start, roof rails, hill descent control, rubber mats. Top notch Crusade trim gets leather seats, JBL- multimedia system, satin-touch interior finish, daytime running lights and heated front seats.

The trims get safety features like trailer sway control, reverse camera, seven airbags, and traction control. But they miss lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control.

It gets equipped with a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that produces 175 HP. It is paired with an Aisin six-speed manual transmission unit and you may opt for a 6 speed automated gearbox too.

The eco mode is there but in real life usage, it does not help boost fuel economy much. The cabin remains mostly quiet. It tackles rough terrains with elan through the agility is not as good as sibling Land Cruiser.
