2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum Review

Escalade is the most exclusive SUV by General Motors. If you think there are no too many people that are willing to pay $75,000 for an SUV, then be ready for the next shock. The 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum is the most exclusive package in the lineup. This package increases the cost to $95,000 and the GM rivals Ford and its top of the line version of premium Lincoln Navigator Black Label.

Both of these vehicles are proud of two companies. They show everything GM and Ford have to offer. And for nearly $100k, the equipment is extraordinary. Even with the base package, Escalade SUV is one of the most exclusive models in the lineup. The 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum raises the bar to new levels that the only a handful of vehicles and companies can reach.

What Make 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum So Special?

The 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum is top of the line model for this SUV. It builds on the Premium Luxury package and adds more features in the total cost of around $7,000. Unique leather seats are the first thing you will spot. Semi-Aniline in first two rows and Mulan leather is reserved for the third row. Not only seats but the entire upholstery, including the instrument panel and console, are using leather. Headliner and door pillar have special trim. Driver’s bucket is adjustable in 18 ways. Massage is also available. Drivers will select one out of three modes. Passengers on the copilot’s seat have two. A standard part of this package is an integrated center console cooler.

Outside, you will recognize the Platinum package thanks to its 22-inch unique wheels with chrome inserts. Dual 9-spoke design and ultra silver metallic finish is a difference compared to the 7-spoke alloy wheels with Pearl Nickel finish available for Premium Luxury model. A unique chrome grille, Platinum door sills with illumination, premium floor mats, and the power-retractable assist steps are features you get with this top of the line package.

Under the hood of the 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum is a 6.2-liter V8 engine. General Motors offers its largest unit for the biggest SUV. Some fans would like to see a 5.3-liter mill as an option, but it is not going to happen. The 6.2-l displacement is delivering 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. One of the recent changes improved the overall driving impression and fuel economy. The SUV is using a 10-speed automatic gearbox. It spreads the power to two wheels by default. All-wheel drive is also available.

Premium equipment of the Platinum model does not harm the overall performance. So, you don’t have to worry. 420 horsepower is enough for 8,500 pounds of towing capacity. Some say the new Escalade is going to offer a turbodiesel drivetrain. In this case, the vehicle could reach a total towing capacity of 11,000 pounds. Extended ESV model decreases the hauling capabilities, as well as the AWD.

2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum vs Lincoln Navigator Black Label

The rivalry between GM and Ford is present in all segments of the automotive industry. The most famous is the one in the pony car class. Currently, the fans are divided between F-150 and Silverado trucks. But, the growth of the SUV class is bringing new competitions and battles. The 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum vs Lincoln Navigator Black Label will be one of these.

Well, the base models have rivals by Japanese carmakers. Toyota Land Cruiser and Infiniti QX80 are decent SUVs. But, Platinum and Black Label trims have no serious rival, besides each other. We introduced GM’s vehicle. Lincoln’s model offers similar specs and options. But, the Black Label is creating a special trim – a unique theme inside the cockpit. Currently, there are three worlds available with Navigator – Yacht Club, Chalet, and Destination. Of course, each of these brings its own interior design. But, they all have premium features in common. The price of the 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum and Lincoln Navigator Black Label are very similar.

2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum ESV Model

The Platinum package is also available for the Escalade ESV. This is the extended version of the SUV. The overall length adds 20 inches. The wheelbase also gains 14 inches (130 in total). Of course, this means more cargo space. The ESV model will offer 39/76/120 cubic feet. Compared to the standard model, it adds a lot of room. The base Escalade comes with 15 cu.ft behind the third row, 51 cu.ft. with rear seats folded, and 95 cubic feet of maximum volume for luggage.

The 2020 Cadillac Escalade Platinum is a super-premium package that will carry the most expensive price tag in the whole lineup. The model starts at $95,000. That is $20k more than the base vehicle. Also, the Platinum package costs $7,000 more than the Premium Luxury and $15,000 more than regular Luxury SUV. The ESV version adds around $4,000 and it is just shy of a six-digit price. Add any option, such as AWD, and voila – you have a model that costs $100,000.
