2021 Kia Sorento Interior, Hybrid, Release date, MQ4

Even though we are in the last quarter of 2019, it is usually still early to talk about models for 2021. But, this is not the case with the 2021 Kia Sorento. The larges SUV in the family is already announced. According to the official info, it will be worth waiting.

Kia is not saving on its flagship model. The test mules are already spotted on the tracks, and it is just a matter of time when the Korean company is making this vehicle official. We know it will be an all-new model. The mid-size SUV will move the spotlight on it again after the public was turned to the full-size Telluride for a while.

The compact crossover segment might be the best-selling class, but the mid-size models with three rows of seats are becoming more popular. So, the company decided to launch the new generation. It will start with the 2021 Kia Sorento, and the codename for the platform is MQ4.

2021 Kia Sorento Redesign

Like every new generation, the fresh model is bringing a lot of changes. Otherwise, it will be an update, or a facelift, right? So, the 2021 Kia Sorento is going through an overhaul, inside and outside. The exterior will be more aesthetic. But, at this point, spy photos are not showing too much, and the officials are not speaking about details. But, true fans will recognize the difference in approaches for the latest additions in this class and the SUV that was launched in 2016. Chromed tiger nose is certain, since we can see this part on the newest Telluride or Kona. LED headlights with wrapping are something unusual. But, these moves made Korean carmaker recognizable. On some renders, we can see a styling similar to Range Rover, especially with rear quarter window and rakish pillars.

Interior

The 2021 Kia Sorento remains a two-row mid-size SUV. But, the optional models with the LX trim level are offering three rows of seats and total seating capacity for seven passengers. This makes the SUV pretty versatile and provides additional options to buyers. Either way, the maximum cargo space could get a boost with the arrival of the new generation. With 73 cubic feet of maximum storage volume (behind the first row), we can’t call the Sorento cramped. The new model will go higher.

This is not the only change for the 2021 YM. The company also announced significant updates in the infotainment system. We must be honest and admit that Sorento’s technology is aging. But, from what we see on the new Telluride, we don’t have to worry about the new generation of its smaller sibling.

Hi-tech features are guaranteed. More USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, and availability of both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will establish this model as one of the most equipped in the market. Some advanced options, such as wireless charging, or heads-up display, will be standard for higher trim levels. Of course, the safety will take a huge hit.

2021 Kia Sorento Engines

The 2021 Kia Sorento is not getting a 3.8-liter V6 engine with 291 hp. Well, some enthusiasts still believe in this rumor, but it is unlikely to happen. However, the US version sticks to the 2.4-liter four-cylinder as the base powerplant. However, 185 hp is not enough if you choose a seven-seat version. Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission the engine returns 25 mpg combined. All-wheel drive is optional. However, it costs more, and it consumes more fuel.

We can hear that Kia is dropping a 3.3 unit. There is no way the company will launch the new SUV without a V6 engine. Experts didn’t waste too much time before they found out a possible solution. The new 2021Sorento is going hybrid. This is a reasonable explanation, especially with a system based on a V6 mill.

European buyers can also purchase the SUV with diesel engines. These are not coming to the US, that is for sure. Still, we don’t have reliable sources to give us info if the current lineup is coming back in 2021. A 2.2 CRDi is one of the drivetrains people outside the US loves the most.

2021 Kia Sorento Release Date, Price

Kia has no too much space to increase the price of the upcoming Sorento. One of the reasons for its popularity is the attractive price. So, with the higher MSRP, the Korean company can lose buyers. On the other hand, Kia is now a well-known manufacturer, so they don’t have to lure fans with cheaper vehicles. The base price of the current version is $27,000. Hybrid or a V6 will cost at least $30k.

There is still enough time for development. But, the 2021 Kia Sorento will show up soon. At least spy photos are showing a vehicle that might enter the production in the foreseeable future. On the other hand, debut doesn’t mean the sales will start immediately. The new generation will be available in the second half of 2020, or even in the last quarter.
