2021 Mercedes AMG GLS63 Spy Photos

Mercedes is already testing its most powerful vehicle. Spy shots confirm this. From what we can see, there will be a lot of modifications compared to the model we saw already. Well, besides packing 600+ hp, the SUV will have to follow it with aggressive styling. The three-row performance vehicle is going to use the Panamericana grille, unique lights, and probably bumper. We can’t see everything through the heavy camouflage. Still, there are small modifications visible to sharp lenses of the camera. Of course, you don’t take these mules as production models, since there is more than a year left for tests and upgrades of the 2021 Mercedes AMG GLS63.

As every AMG model, the largest SUV in the family will carry many unique upgrades and features. Besides the Panamericana front fascia, there are special wheels and side steps, very probably hands-free power tailgate, and a lot of cargo space inside the seven-seat SUV. You can always upgrade the offer by adding more speakers to the audio system. Also, the new MBUX infotainment is one of the best on the market currently, so buyers of the 2021 Mercedes AMG GLS63 don’t have to make any extra purchases.

2021 Mercedes AMG GLS63 Specs

The EQ boost hybrid system is the biggest addition for the 2021 Mercedes AMG GLS63 drivetrain. Engineers are replacing a 5.5-liter V8 engine that produced 577 hp with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo mill. The smaller, but the more powerful unit will crunch 490 horsepower. By adding the EQ Boost features, the new AMG SUV is going to be able to burst 605 horsepower and 665 pound-feet of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission pairs this drivetrain for a smooth ride. The new model will need around 4 seconds to accelerate 0-60 mph. Top speed of this monster will be limited.

There are also rumors about the bigger drivetrain. According to some sources, Mercedes could use a 6.0-liter V8 with a possible output of 620 hp and 750 pound-feet of torque. Further rumors are upgrading the drivetrain with various features that will help this V8 create more than 800 horsepower, as GT concept shows up. Whatsoever, this is not likely to happen, since a smaller 4.0-l engine can produce enough power, and EQ Boost system perfectly fits that drivetrain and improves its fuel economy.
