2023 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport GT, Price, Philippines

In the world of genuine body-on-frame SUVs, things aren’t changing all that fast. If we consider that the current-generation Land Cruiser Prado has been around since 2009, it’s pretty clear why no one expects bigger changes from the 2023 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. That SUV was last time redesigned in 2015 and since then, we have only seen an update in 2020. Therefore, we are pretty sure that the next year will bring no bigger changes. We expect to see the same design and pretty much the same features.

All this means that you may count on a familiar layout, which still has a lot of great things to offer. This SUV is spacious and comfortable but at the same time, it offers great off-road performance and a high dose of utility. Another thing we like about it is the efficient diesel engine, which is smaller compared to competitors but equally capable.

As there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2023 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2023 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Design

As we’ve just mentioned, no bigger changes are expected for the 2023 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. We are about to see the same layout and that refers to both mechanics and aesthetics. Visually, we expect to see the same appearance, which brings a pretty attractive and quite aggressive approach. Of course, the front end has a lot of things in common with the L200, while the rest of the body comes in a wagon-like but pretty muscular layout.

Mechanically, most of the parts are shared with the aforementioned pickup, which serves as the basis for this SUV. The platform is the same, though the Pajero Sport features a much more refined suspension. Instead of leaf springs, this SUV features independent rear suspension, which ensures much better ride quality.

Interior

Interior changes aren’t expected either. This SUV will continue with the same cabin layout, which has a lot of great things to offer. In terms of quality, most materials are hard to the touch, though everything seems rock-solid, built to last. The same is with aesthetics, which are pretty truckish. The dashboard is bold and mostly about functionality, rather than aesthetics. Still, the SUV doesn’t lack modern features at all. The infotainment system is good, while there is also a decent portion of connectivity features.

The SUV features three rows of seats but if we consider that the wheelbase is good for 2.800 millimeters, it’s quite obvious that you shouldn’t expect much from the third row. It is tight and works only for kids. On the other hand, the first two rows are quite spacious and comfortable. The front seats are massive and supportive, while the driving position is good and provides good visibility in all directions.

Trim Levels

Of course, there is always a chance to see smaller updates in terms of standard and available features. However, we expect that most things will remain the same. That particularly refers to the trim level organization, which will remain untouched. Therefore, you may count on familiar versions of the SUV – GLX, GLS, Exceed and GSR.

The base GLX is already a pretty well-equipped vehicle. The 2022 model comes standard with goodies like an 8-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and start, leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED headlights, LED fog lights and LED daytime running lights. So, it’s no wonder that many buyers look no further than for the base versions.

For those who want some upgrades, the GLS brings a couple of them. Some of the highlights are goodies like automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, privacy glass, a power tailgate, dual-zone climate control and a six-speaker audio system.

The Exceed grade is where luxury begins, as you may count on goodies like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, surround-view camera, parking sensors, heated front seats, power front seats, an 8-speaker audio system, and an 8-inch instrument display.

The range-topping GSR is pretty similar to the Exceed in terms of standard equipment but comes with lots of exclusive styling details. Some of the highlights are goodies like blacked 18-inch wheels, blacked bumpers, grille, rear spoiler, roof, etc.

2023 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Engines

When it comes to powertrain, the 2023 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will certainly carry on in the same way. This SUV comes with the company’s well-known 2.4-liter turbodiesel, which puts out around 133kW (181 horsepower) and 430 pound-feet of torque. With all that power and torque, driving dynamics are actually pretty good, while you may also count on respectable towing capacity, which goes around 3.100 kg.

The engine comes coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which does a very good job. It also has a big impact on the fuel economy, which goes around 8.0 liters per 100km combined, which is pretty good for the segment.

In certain parts of the world, the Pajero Sport is also available with a gasoline engine. That model uses a good-old 3.0-liter V6, which puts out around 220 horsepower.
