2021 Chevy Trailblazer Is A New Small Crossover From GM

GM prepares several interesting novelties for the next year. The SUV lineup is going to be expanded notably in the next few years and one of the most interesting novelties will be the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer. If you’re familiar with this nameplate, that’s because we are talking about a nameplate that has been used for a capable off-roader. This time, things are a little bit different. The new model will feature a completely different design, despite the same nameplate. It will be a modern crossover, based on a unibody platform. Moreover, it will be notably smaller.

The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer will be notably smaller than its predecessor. It will be slotted between Trax and Equinox. The new model will have several trumps up its sleeve, including attractive styling, two turbocharged engines and available all-wheel drive. The new model is about to hit the market in the first quarter of the next year.

2021 Chevy Trailblazer Redesign

Despite the familiar nameplate, the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer will be an all-new model. Compared to previous models that carried this nameplate, this one will be designed in a far more modern manner. We are about to see a modern, unibody platform. In this case, that would be a new VSS architecture, the same one we’ve recently seen in the Buick Encore GX, which debuted in China recently. You may count on the same dimensions and pretty much the same mechanics, including the powertrain lineup.

Speaking of dimensions, you may count on a wheelbase that measures around 103.9 inches. That’s a quite typical number for the class, slightly bigger than Honda HR-V and a little bit smaller compared to the new Mazda CX-30. The overall length goes up to 173.7 inches, which means we can count both on a decent amount of legroom and cargo area.

Styling

From what we can see, the styling will definitely be one of the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer’s strong points. It’s not hard to notice that the new model takes a lot of inspiration from the bigger, also recently-introduced, Blazer. The front face is practically the same, while the overall shape is also pretty close, just in a much smaller package. The new model also comes with a lot of SUV-ish styling solutions, despite we are talking about a modern crossover.

Another thing we should mention is that the new model will come in several trim levels in the offer and some of them will be characterized by some quite distinctive details. For example, the RS trim will be characterized by a little bit sportier approach, with a blacked mesh grille and unique wheels. On the other side, the Activ trim level, which definitely has some off-road aspirations, considering that it comes with bigger all-terrain tires and a couple of more off-roady details.

Interior

From what we can see on specs, it looks like the new 2021 Chevy Trailblazer will feature a quite comfortable cabin. We are about to see two rows of seats with a decent amount of legroom, so four adults should definitely be able to accommodate comfortably. Also, we count on a decent cargo volume, as the company claims the overall capacity will go around 55 cubic feet.

Besides, comfort and functionality, the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer should also be able to offer a decent dose of convenience. We count on a quite long list of tech features, including the latest infotainment system, smartphone integration and more.

Another important aspect we should mention is safety. It looks like the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer will be pretty strong in this aspect, as all models are about to come standard with things like Front Pedestrian Braking, Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. Things like Adaptive Cruise Control or Rear Park Assist should be available.

2021 Chevy Trailblazer Engines

Two engines are about to be in the offer for 2021 Chevy Trailblazer. Base models will come with a 1.2-liter turbo inline-three, which is good for about 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes in pair with a CVT gearbox. Higher trims are about to come with a little bit bigger and more powerful 1.35-liter turbo three-cylinder engine, which features a max output of 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. This engine also comes standard with a CVT gearbox. However, it will also be available in AWD models. In that case, the engine will be paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

2021 Chevy Trailblazer Release Date and Price

The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is expected to come pretty soon. Most reports suggest the first quarter of 2020. According to the latest reports, the starting price will go under 20.000 dollars, and will definitely be another strong point of this crossover. Still, that doesn’t change the fact that the segment is extremely tough and that the new Trailblazed will have a very hard job to establish a good position on the market. Some of the key competitors will be models like Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-30, Toyota CH-R, Ford EcoSport etc.
